The CLAS tachometer works as follows: - the optical method: it focuses a beam of light onto a reflective strip attached to a rotating object. The beam is then reflected at each pass of the strip, which is translated into rotational speed. The distance between the device and the reflective strip can be up to 600mm. - the mechanical method uses a contact probe, which is directly attached to the axis of rotation. A measuring wheel is placed on the adapter to measure speed or length. |
